Celestial and Terrestrial Globes
These miniature globes are only 3.5 inches in diameter. One represents the Earth and the other the starry sky. They are fashioned from gore-shaped sections of woodcut-printed maps glued to wooden spheres. These maps were issued by mathematician & geographer, François DeMongenet, of Vesoul, France, in 1552.
