David P. Wheatland Curator Sara Schechner has been named among the inaugural Fellows of the American Astronomical Society. Fellowships recognize members " for achievement and extraordinary service to the field of astronomy and the American Astronomical Society...and for their contributions toward the AAS mission of enhancing and sharing humanity's scientific understanding of the universe." This recognition is an especially appropriate "apogee" in Sara's lifelong devotion to promoting astronomy education and enjoyment (including as the instructor for this semester's History of Science course "Starstruck! The History, Culture, and Politics of American Astronomy").
