Family Event: Kathy Tighe, Instructor Get your hands dirty making a playable ocarina, one of the world’s oldest musical instruments. These small, multi-note clay flutes were used in many early cultures and are still found in contemporary music. In this two-part workshop, participants will create an ocarina, sculpt it into an animal shape, experiment with tuning, and visit the related bilingual exhibition in the Peabody Museum, /Ocarinas of the Americas: Music Made in Clay/. Each participant will make a bisque-fired flute (similar to the ones pictured) to paint at home.
